The new company is based in Frankfurt am Main; managing directors are Klaas Kersting (flaregames) and Pete Walentin (keen games). Flaregames holds 51 percent of the shares in the joint venture and keen games holds the remaining shares.

keen has deployed a team of ten developers to start in the new company and is providing a substantial knowledge transfer in technology and game design to the entity. flaregames is bringing its deep knowledge in the fields of analytics and monetization for free-to-play games. The Karlsruhe-based mobile games company will also be responsible for the publishing of the new games, i.e. marketing, distribution, PR and promotion.

Games will be based on the proven “free-to-play” business model where games are free, but offer players the option to purchase services and items within the game to enhance the game experience or accelerate gameplay.

Keen Flare is already working on its first game, a high-quality 3D title that illustrates the strengths of the joint venture: The game is developed using the mobile games expertise of flaregames and keen games’ proprietary technology. The estimated release date is summer 2012.

As a member of the management team Liberty will be involved in strategic decisions that will shape the future of keen games. With a track record of over 20 years in the videogame industry, Liberty has worked for some of the most influential developers and publishers in the US including Sony Computer Entertainment, Activision, Atari and Sony Online.
